Description

I first wrote "Dolphin watercolour" but I thought "hell no this is way too simple" so xD

This is a watercolour I painted as a christmas present for my boyfriend's mother. She loves dolphins :)

Here is the reference : mysticdream325.deviantart.com/…

Hope you like it. Not really sure about it... must practice moar.

15,3 x 25cm watercolour paper

Update : there's finally some sun ! So I took a better photo that deserves much more the painting I think :) No colours edit this time, just a bit of constrast. (except for the B&W of course)

Greetings Deviant I noticed that you left the critique function on, So I hope to offer mine.

The image is strikingly similar to the reference, but of course that was intended and you illustrated what you have seen well . I find it pretty powerful in how the view is centralized on the dolphin. It appears to fly out of the ocean while tilted in it's playful way. Maybe consider if the dolphin could be more ''glossy'' from coming out the water, however, I believe you done a fantastic job on the painting of the dolphin and it's gesture/movement. The water has a large variety of shades and tints of blue and the ocean waves in this are presented as very active with the splashing.

Once more this is a very good variation that was done , and I appreciate the time that was taken to paint what inspired you. Best of luck for your future works and hope this helped a little.
